We’ve already managed to tick off one of my targets for 2020 by preparing a large new planting bed. It’s approx 30 foot long and runs parallel to the wall. We’ve really hit the ground running in 2020. Over the Christmas break we decided – rather spontaneously – to lay a living willow hedge or ‘fedge‘ as they are known. Our boundary line is approximately 150ft long, so we’d discounted the idea of planting a traditional hedge due to the cost. We were able to pick up 360 willow rods

In November our order of crab apple trees ‘Evereste‘ arrived. They came bare root via the post so we had to soak them prior to planting. We ordered 12 so we could plant 3 around each quarter of the wall – the picture below gives you an impression. We chose this variety since they are disease resistant and the blossom
